Thanks for having me! I’m Alexis Alvarez, and I’d like to share a snippet from my newly released romance novel, Dream Girl. It’s a funny, sexy take-off on the popular American reality television show The Bachelor. In my version, the hero is the epitome of tall, dark, sexy and intelligent. And the woman is the sassy girl inside of us all, the woman who has the courage and humor to be herself. I hope you enjoy it!
Blurb for Dream Girl:
He’s sexy and intelligent, handsome and witty… and Chloe’s body lights up with sparks at his touch. And when he looks into her eyes and whispers naughty sexy things into her ear, she wants to melt into him and enjoy the mind-blowing passion he promises.
Too bad he’s the star of the popular reality show Dream Girls, and he’s also dating nineteen other girls in addition to Chloe — girls who are sexy and so talented that their Nobel Prizes should arrive any day now. Chloe’s sure he’s just amusing himself with her, and there is no way he’d pick her as his final Dream Girl — especially since she gets into so many crazy scrapes on the show.
She promised herself she was only doing this for adventure, travel, and new experiences…not to make a fool of herself on national TV. But he’s so sexy and persuasive! Would it be so bad to say yes to all of his dark, dirty requests? And most important of all — what will happen if she risks her heart?
Excerpt from Dream Girl:
Dominic was crushingly gorgeous. In a black suit and crisp white shirt, he stood there like the dominant fantasy man of her dreams, and her pulse came fast as she cleared her throat in front of him. Dominic spoke first. “Trip Advisor. You look, ah, stunning.” He bent down to kiss her cheek.
“Hey there, Tool Box,” she said casually, although her whole body tingled at the gentle touch of his lips to her skin.
At their tone and words, it seemed as if everyone in the room stopped for a second to listen harder. Chloe peered at the pile of opened presents behind him on a low table. She saw a batch of homemade cookies, a mix CD with a pink bow, and a hand-painted watercolor picture in a frame.
She pointed her shoulder at the table. “You do realize those are Nookie bait, right?”
“Nookie bait?” Dominic shot a glance at the gifts and narrowed his eyes.
“Yes,” Chloe said. “A material manifestation of feminine wiles. A placeholder in space to hopefully reserve a spot in your bed, er, heart. You know. Enticement. Inducement. Incentive. AKA, bribes. I thought I wasn’t going to have to do this vocabulary thing for you, though.”
“I assure you that my vocabulary is sufficiently extensive that I can glean any manner of abstruse confabulation you throw my way, Trip,” said Dominic, smirking at her. “Is this a… cape?” He pulled at the cut fabric looped around her shoulders.
“Good to see that your powers of deduction are functional,” observed Chloe. “Yes. It is a cape. And if a nearby cruise ship or luxury hotel flashes the Out-Of-Bar-Napkins distress signal, I might have to run off to save the day. You know, seeing how I am Super Trip Advisor and all. Here. This is for you.”
She thrust the thing in her arms toward him. Startled, he grabbed it. And there he was, awkwardly holding a dirty garden gnome with a tall, pointed red hat and a long white ceramic beard under painted eyes that might once have sparkled, before the paint flaked.
“I know the gnome technically belongs with a different travel company than mine,” Chloe pointed out helpfully, “but it seemed appropriate. So that’s your gift.”
“This is your idea of enticement?” Dominic raised his eyebrow at her, putting the gnome onto the table with the other gifts. There was dirt smeared across his shirt now. He winced as he looked at it and gave a rueful grin to the general vicinity.
Chloe shrugged. “Getting dirty never killed anyone,” she commented.
Dominic moved fluidly and suddenly she found herself pulled up against his hard chest, feeling his hot breath on her neck as he spoke into her ear. “Getting dirty never did kill anyone, Trip,” he murmured. “I guess your gift means that you want to get dirty with me, is that right? I admire your straightforward approach. But I’m not that easy. You’re going to have to work harder to seduce me.”
He leaned in further, brushing his lips across her neck in the barest whisper of a kiss, before stepping back and releasing her. “Remember who’s on top here, Trip,” he murmured, his eyes locked onto hers. He was breathing hard, though, and red flushed along his jawbone. He raised his hand and
brushed almost fiercely at his hair. The room was electric with anticipation.
Chloe scowled at him, her own body thrumming with arousal and excitement. But she was not going to let him win this round. He was not going to bowl her over with a few sexy comments and that one tingly kiss on her neck.
“The dirt on the gnome signifies that you’re at the ground level, Tool Box,” she said in a honeyed voice. “But I’m up in the penthouse. You’ve got a long ways to travel before you reach my level. In fact, I’m not even sure you could handle it. But not to worry. Looks like you have plenty of… subordinate options.”
Dominic smiled, leaned in and whispered, “I’m glad I heard the word subordinate on your lips. That’s how I want you.” Then he winked at her.
Chloe swallowed hard. His eyes burned into hers, and she couldn’t look away. She imagined his strong hands tying her delicate wrists with black silk, stroking her naked body—she gulped and tried to look unaffected.
Now the assistant was waving, urging Chloe onward. “Walk,” she mouthed, gesturing.
“See ya, Tool Box,” Chloe said, walking away, feeling her face burn and flush to match the red of her cape.
Dream Girl is a light-hearted, fun romance with steamy sex, laugh-out-loud humor, and an HEA. It releases September 1st on Amazon and will be in the Kindle Unlimited program.
